“What are you doing here?”

“Your mum, in her infinite wisdom, has entered me as a prize in the Firemen’s Orphan Auction.”

“Cool. Way to go!”

I usually hate young people who use expressions such as ‘cool’ and ‘way to go’, but from Roman they sounded, well, cool. Does my attitude make my ass look old?

Claire interrupted the love-in. It was just as well because I was having dreadful warm wet feelings in my pussy. It was tingling as Roman had his brawny pumped-up arms around me, the heat from his body sending my temperature soaring. Roman was one of those lucky men who were so handsome that he never wanted for anything in his life. People threw themselves, money, fame, everything at him to be in his circle of friends and acquaintances. Unlike most people with that sort of charmed life, however, an unjust deity had also leavened it with charm so that what seemed egotistical and charmless in others just added to the man’s ‘awww’ factor.

But he was Claire’s son. What was I thinking?

“Me and the guys entered last year but there was a bit of a fracas with the bidding so we decided to sit this one out.”

Fracas was a bit of an understatement. There had been a near riot when the three guys had put themselves forth for auction as a job lot. The bidding was so frenzied the auctioneers were forced to suspend trading until order was restored. The trio had turned up with their bodies oiled, their muscles pumped, dressed as semi-naked gladiators. Bidding finally tapered off at $10,000. All that got the lucky winner was a dinner for four at a semi-classy restaurant where other diners asking for photos and autographs swamped them.

It did lead to the notorious Firemen’s Hose calendar in which the three men bared all but their fire hoses leading to a public reprimand for bringing the state’s fire services into disrepute. The fire chiefs seriously misjudged community sentiment which forced them to backpedal because of the furor that followed the boys’ suspension. Their popularity had only increased in the intervening year.

“What he means is we’ve been told by those in charge to not even think about donating our services to charity this year,” the blond one with dimples interrupted.

“Where are my manners?” Roman hit himself on the forehead with the palm of his hand. “The one with the big mouth…” I noticed Roman wink at his mate as he said it, “is Rowley, Row for short. And the one with the big…um…fire hose is Lou.”
